Hello and Peace to one and all!
Well it’s been an altogether incredibly short summer vacation, working at the camera store, attempting to reconnect with home friends, getting my pictures from Japan edited and arranged for web display, and of course grappling with re-entry into the US. Mostly it’s been a painless transfer, as I’ve sort of sealed off my experience in Japan and see it as really another side of my life that doesn’t entirely mesh with my life here, but I will admit there have been a few moments where I felt an incredible longing to be back in a foreign culture, speaking Japanese, eating delicious fresh foods, and being energized every moment by the intensity of life there. But while I know that I will return to Japan in the future for more extended periods of time, one part of my experience there is completed.
As for now I’m back at Trinity College, preparing for a very busy senior year. Anyway, I hope everyone who has been reading these letters has had a good summer vacation and is healthy. Not everyone wrote me, but I hope you all will take a few minutes to look at my photographs from the Spring semester. Keep in mind there’s over four hundred, so maybe a bit at a time would be best. Also feel free to pass on this link to anyone you know who might be interested. Of course, your comments and criticism are welcome. Sometime soon I’ll add captions so it will be possible to get a little more background information on what you’re seeing.
Onegai itashimasu, yukkuri doozo!
Sincerely, D. Freeman
